Cookie Policy

The short version

HipGen, run by SkybleLab Inc, uses a few cookies and some browser storage to keep you signed in and remember your work. If you're in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, analytics cookies are only set if you choose "Accept all" in the cookie banner. Everywhere else they're on by default, and "Essential only" turns them off. We don't use advertising cookies. You can change your choice any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.

Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. "Local storage" and "session storage" are similar browser features that keep data on your device. This policy covers all of them. Read it together with our Privacy Policy.

Essential (always on)

The site can't work without these, so they don't need consent:

• Sign-in session (cookies starting with better-auth.): keep you signed in and protect sign-in against misuse. They last up to about 7 days, or until you sign out.
• Language (PARAGLIDE_LOCALE): remembers whether you read HipGen in English, Spanish or Portuguese.
• Sign-in link timer (local storage): stops the sign-in form sending another email link too soon.
• Your cookie choice (hg-consent, local storage): remembers what you picked in the banner.

Your work and settings (local storage)

These stay in your browser, are never used for tracking, and only exist so you don't lose your work:

• Drafts (rap-draft, rap-lyrics-draft, rap-audio-draft): keep a generator's settings when you sign in halfway through, so you can carry on.
• Running renders (rap-jobs, rap-job, rap-made): let the page pick up a rap that's still being made, and tell you when it's done.
• Lyrics hand-off (lyrics-handoff, session storage): moves lyrics from one tool to another.
• Favourites (rap-name-favourites): rapper names you saved.

You can clear these at any time in your browser settings.

Analytics

• Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*): counts visits and shows which pages and tools people use, so we can improve them. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland these cookies are only set after you choose "Accept all"; until then, Google Analytics runs in a cookieless mode that stores nothing on your device. Elsewhere they're set by default unless you choose "Essential only". The cookies last up to 2 years. We've turned off advertising features, and we never send Google your photos or lyrics.
• pvuv.ai (_pv_id, _pv_sid, _pv_ft, _pv_v, _pv_uid, plus a copy of the visitor ID in local storage): counts visitors, visits and where they came from. Follows the same rule as Google Analytics: opt-in in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, on by default elsewhere. The visitor ID lasts up to 13 months; the visit cookie ends after 30 minutes without activity.
• Plausible: counts page views without cookies and without collecting personal information.
• OpenPanel, on our own analytics server: records page views and actions (like writing lyrics or starting a rap) without cookies or storage on your device. When you're signed in, it links them to your account so we can fix problems you run into.

Cookies from other services

When you use their features, these services set their own cookies under their own policies:

• Stripe, on checkout and billing pages, to process payments securely and prevent fraud.
• Google, when you choose to sign in with Google.

Changing your choice

• Click Cookie settings at the bottom of any page and choose "Accept all" or "Essential only". If you switch to "Essential only", analytics stops at once; analytics cookies that were already set expire or can be deleted in your browser.
• You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop sign-in from working.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if the cookies we use change, and update the date at the top. If we add a new kind of optional cookie, we'll ask for your choice again.
